East Crete

The most easterly of Crete's four prefectures is Lassithi. It contains, amongst other notable destinations, the tropical beach at Vai, Europe's most southerly town Ierapetra, Sitia, Elounda and the capital Agios Nikolaos, a town that can chart its history back over 2000 years. Much of the north east coastline is dominated by Mirabello bay. To the south is the Liviko Pelagoss (Libyan Sea)
